Find me one like thisOriginal matte black dial with luminous markers & Mercedes hands. This is known as the Mark 3 dial type and is correct for the 8.0 million serial number. The dial is signed “Swiss-T<25” referring to the original tritium luminous used on the dial. The tritium hands have a slightly lighter patina so may have been changed by Rolex during its service in 1996. The dial has not been touched and remains in excellent original condition.
The Explorer reference 1016 in stainless steel with smooth bezel. The 8.0 serial number in-between the lugs denotes the year of production to 1984. The 1016 reference from this period features the hacking seconds movement, plexiglass crystal and Rolex Twinlock screw down crown. We have not polished the watch although it has most likely been polished in the past during one of the Rolex services. It remains in excellent with some light scratches.
