Find me one like thisOriginal grey sunburst dial with gold baton indicies and hands. This is rare colour dial made at the time in relatively low numbers and has now become very sought-after. Referred to as “pie pan” dials due to the sloping edge of the dial. This detail is why the four digit Datejust references are much admired amongst collectors. The dial is signed “T Swiss T” referring to the original tritium luminous used on the dial. The dial has not been touched by us and remains in excellent original condition with some small signs of age to be expected from 1969.
The reference 1600 in 18k solid yellow gold with smooth bezel. Rolex produced far less of this reference than the other Datejust references at the time. The 2.0 million serial number in-between the lugs denotes to the year of production to 1969. It features a plexiglass crystal with a “Cyclops” magnifying the date display and an original gold Rolex Oyster Twinlock screw down crown. The case has been professionally polished by our watchmakers giving the watch a stunning aesthetic.
This watch is fitted with a green Watches of Knightsbridge genuine alligator strap and a gold plated Rolex pin buckle. Smaller leather straps can be ordered on request.
