Rare original gloss black gilt dial and “Mercedes” hands. The dial is correctly signed “Swiss-T<25” referring to the original tritium luminous. The dial has not been touched and remains in excellent original condition which is rare to find.

The Explorer reference 5500 in stainless steel with smooth bezel shares the same reference as the Air-King model from the same period. The 1.5 million serial number in-between the lugs denotes the year of production to 1966. This watch features a plexiglass crystal and a Rolex Twinlock screw down crown. The case is in excellent condition with light scratches from general use.

The watch features a replacement Rolex Oyster “folded” link bracelet. It has the reference 7835 with clasp code S R2 and 357 end links. Bracelets can be resized to fit on request.
