Although black was a colour often used for Rolex sports models at the time, it was rarely used for the Datejust model. This rarity together with its sportier look, has made them very sought after and a watch that suits every occasion. Referred to as a “pie pan” dials due to the sloping edge of the dial. This extra detail is why these four digit Datejust references are much admired amongst collectors. It is also known as a sigma dial due to the small Greek letters either side of the “T Swiss T” indicating the use of gold for the indices. The “T Swiss T” refers to the original tritium luminous used on the dial. The dial has not been touched by us and remains in excellent original condition with minimal signs of age.

Ref. 1603 in stainless steel with milled bezel. The 3.8 million serial number in-between the lugs denotes to the year of production of 1975. This reference features a plexiglass crystal with a “Cyclops” magnifying the date display. The case & bracelet have been professionally polished by our watchmaker giving the watch a stunning aesthetic. It features an original Rolex Oyster Twinlock screw down crown.
